About Me

A vicar's son raised in Yorkshire I trained as a drama teacher at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London from 1974-77. However, instead of teaching went straight into Northern TV and film.

I was awarded 'Best cast in a movie' in 1997 by SAG for Playing Barry in The Full Monty.

My latest role is Michael Ellacott (Holliday Grainger's dad) in the Strike series on BBC1/HBO.

I am also a third year BA (Hons) Painting student with the University for the Creative Arts - Open College of the Arts campus (the UCA's distance learning campus). I started my degree in 2016 when my son went to university and am aiming to graduate in 2023.

News: November 2021... I'm delighted to be filming a lovely part in a high profile UK feature film. This is my first acting job since Covid struck and has been a little different with three PCR tests a week, masks when not filming, bubbles, lanyards and on set covid protocol. I was a little nervous about how it would work out but once you get used to it all runs very smoothly. Such a great array of talent in front and behind the camera it's an absolute joy to work on.
