About Me

December 2020. Originally from Yorkshire (My dad was a vicar so we moved around a lot) I trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London in the 1970's and went straight into Northern TV and film.

My latest role is as Michael Ellacott (Holliday Grainger's dad) in the Strike series on BBC1/HBO. Sadly they cut most of the wedding reception...

I was awarded 'Best cast in a movie' in 1997 by SAG for Playing Barry in The Full Monty.

I'm an Equity and BAFTA voting member.

When not acting I am an artist artist and second year BA (Hons) Painting undergraduate with the Open College of the Arts, the distance learning arm of the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. I hope to graduate in 2023.  Apart from enjoying the intellectual challenge and creating beautiful objects (hopefully?!) - it's like acting, or dancing, on canvas - it fits in perfectly with my acting career and I can carry on with both into my 80's.

I am a great believer in art for all, only one person can own an original painting, so am very happy that my designs are selling on Redbubble, I opened a 'shop' called YorkshireLad. Here I am modelling one of my designs...

My paintings are on my website.... this is my latest, Christmas Kiss,

oil on canvas, 40 x 50 cm
